My Story

How the Bees Came to Be

Through the years, I found over the counter sunscreen products often led to outbreaks of adult acne and the onset of rosacea. In frustration, I would find myself opting out of using a daily sun-prote Bee Queen Becky in her Beekeepers Gear ctant which resulted in frequent sunburns, chapped lips and dry, flaky skin. Coupled with the effects of bone-chilling cold and the harsh winter winds, my skin began to show the effects of over-exposure and aging. I began to buy more expensive products with an ingredient deck I could not pronounce let alone comprehend. All the while thinking to myself, “there must be a better way.”

But it was the removal of a couple of pre-cancerous lesions that made me wake up and take a more proactive approach to my skin care regimen. I searched in vain for products that were not only effective but incorporated natural ingredients, were paraben free and easily understood.

Having been a Registered Nurse for many years, I had long been interested in the cultivation and usage of medicinal herbs and began making balms and tinctures to treat myself and my family’s minor wounds and injuries. After learning of my step-father’s regimen use of sterile honey to successfully treat a diabetic ulcer, I began to research the effects of honey on the skin. The previous year, I had sold my own honey crop to friends and family, many who take local honey regularly as a preventative for allergies. In looking for alternatives, I came across research on the efficacy of Manuka Honey and its many potent health benefits.

Manuka Honey has incredible benefits for your entire body and skincare as a whole.

  • It is a powerful antioxidant providing protection against harmful UV rays.
  • It is beneficial in the treatment of acne and blemishes due to it’s antibacterial effects
  • Often useful in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis due to anti-inflammatory effects
  • It is a natural moisturizer which-penetrates skin tissue without drying
  • Useful in the treatment of wounds and in the prevention of scarring
  • It has a high antimicrobial effect

This was my, “Ah Ha,” moment and Bee Queen Manuka Honey products was born.
